The Emptiness That Fills
Donald P. Goodman III
Version 1.0,
The flow of great Niagara fills Ontario,
the great freshwater ocean, to its ancient brim;
through Lawrence to the sea the lake itself will flow,
the rippling of their waters singing sacred hymn.
From fullness on to fullness flows the blood of earth;
ne'er lessening, each still the next in line can sate;
yet loses none of its own life in giving birth
e'en as the prior doth its substance recreate.
And yet there is an emptiness that fills the soul,
a fullness to which nothing ever can equate;
the emptiness which fills, can emptiness console;
which fills the more it empties, till at last we're whole.
