The Legend of the Three Companions of St. Francis of Assisi
Brs. Leo, Rufine, and Angelo
E. G. Salter, trans.

Among the biographies of St. Francis of Assisi, this little volume is one of the simplest and most beloved. In 1246, as those who had known and walked with the Seraphic Father were aging and passing on, the Minister-General of the Order asked some of those to write their recollections of his life. One of these was the second Life of St. Francis of Assisi, by Thomas of Celano; one was this little work. Brief but powerful, this volume doesn't even touch on all the great events of the saint's life; for example, it is silent on his famous trip to Damietta to convert the sultan. But it gives a valuable insight into the life of St. Francis from three of those who knew and loved him well.
Praise be to Christ the King!
