The Office of the Lord's Passion
Francis of Assisi

The Divine Office is the prayer of the Church, the great work that the whole of the Church prayers together, second only to the Sacraments themselves in its sacred character. This little office is not that. However, St. Francis of Assisi, after praying the Divine Office, would prayer this little office to himself, and taught it to some of his followers, such as St. Claire. Consisting of his famous meditation on the Our Father; his “divine praises”; and “psalms” composed of Scripture and his own prayers, this little office, devoted to the Passion of Christ, is a great exercise to learn the saint's method of prayer, and to focus one on the Passion the way that he himself was focused. Each hour takes only about five minutes, and is a fruitful meditation on the Lord, as well as an application of the Passion to our own lives.
Praise be to Christ the King!
